omission and to say whether its correction will lead only to a new interpretation of the constants of our equations or to an actual change of their form. Another simplification is the neglect of polar and excited states: While there is reason to assume that their influence is small, its exact estimate is still lacking. Further inaccuracies were discussed in our preceding paper: The use of Bloch's periodicity condition in place of the actual border conditions, the restriction to interactions between adjacent atoms and to first order perturbations. With these omissions the mathematical side of the theory becomes simple and elegant and, as the preceding sections show, it is sufficient to represent the actual conditions at low temperatures. However, the prospects of carrying this treatment to a higher degree of approximation are not very favorable. The mathematical simplicity is lost and the theory becomes rather cumbersome because one has to increase the accuracy in so many different directions, For determining the Curie point one should, perhaps, try a different approach to the problem, for instance, that recently outlined by L. Brillouin'1 although it seems that this method, too, is difficult to be carried through without considerable idealizations. 1 R. I. Allen and F. W. Constant, Phys. Rev., 44, 228 (1933). 2 p. S. Preuss, Thesis of Zurich (cited by Forrer). 9 We infer this from the fact that our formula (8) with a suitably chosen constant represents well the saturation curves obtained by Weiss and his pupils for heterocrystalline materials. 10The formula given by Bloch (note 5) leads to a still much slower decline than ours. 11 L. متن کاملOn Duality between Filtering and Interpolation*
Abstra ct. Positive real rational functions play a central role in both deterministic and stochastic linear systems theory, arising in circuit synthesis, filtering, interpolation, spectral analysis, speech processing, stability theory, stochastic realization theory and systems identification – to name just a few. For this reason, results about positive real transfer functions and their realizat...
متن کاملConvergence of Linear Barycentric Rational Interpolation for Analytic Functions
Polynomial interpolation to analytic functions can be very accurate, depending on the distribution of the interpolation nodes. However, in equispaced nodes and the like, besides being badly conditioned, these interpolants fail to converge even in exact arithmetic in some cases. Linear barycentric rational interpolation with the weights presented by Floater and Hormann can be viewed as blended p...
متن کاملNon Uniform Rational B Spline (NURBS) Based Non-Linear Analysis of Straight Beams with Mixed Formulations
Displacement finite element models of various beam theories have been developed traditionally using conventional finite element basis functions (i.e., cubic Hermite, equi-spaced Lagrange interpolation functions, or spectral/hp Legendre functions). Various finite element models of beams differ from each other in the choice of the interpolation functions used for the transverse deflection w, tota...
متن کاملOn the Duality between Filtering and Nevanlinna--Pick Interpolation
Positive real rational functions play a central role in both deterministic and stochastic linear systems theory, as well as in circuit synthesis, spectral analysis, and speech processing. For this reason, results about positive real transfer functions and their realizations typically have many applications and manifestations. In this paper, we study certain manifolds and submanifolds of positiv...
متن کاملINTERPOLATION BY HYPERBOLIC B-SPLINE FUNCTIONS
In this paper we present a new kind of B-splines, called hyperbolic B-splines generated over the space spanned by hyperbolic functions and we use it to interpolate an arbitrary function on a set of points. Numerical tests for illustrating hyperbolic B-spline are presented.
